A Simple Guide To Funding Resources
According to the Stronger Connections Grant Program (SCG), through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA), $53,737,824 is available to Florida School Districts to support students with safer learning environments.
At Radio One / CSE Crosscom we believe a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, teachers and administrators is critical for K-12 and higher education institutions to achieve their educational goals. Unfortunately, creating and maintaining that safe environment has become an ever-increasing challenge.
Available Funding
Across the US and State of Florida educational institutions are evaluating and instituting the steps to enhance their approach to proactive security with technology solutions that can detect, alert and deter threats by instituting an immediate and effective response before incidents escalate.
School safety grants at both the federal and state level play are playing a vital role allowing school districts to enhance their campuses with the latest safety and security equipment and technology including two-way radios, video surveillance, access control, Concealed Weapons Detection (CWD), vape detection and enhanced wireless networking solutions and more. One of the most useful discretionary federal grant programs pertaining to school safety is the School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP), administered through the U.S. Department of Justice.
School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP)
The Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing School Violence Act of 2018 (STOP School Violence Act of 2018) gave the COPS Office authority to provide awards directly to States, units of local government, or Indian tribes to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the jurisdiction of the grantee through evidence-based school safety programs and technology.
Who is eligible?
Local Law Enforcement Agencies, State Law Enforcement Agencies, Units of local government (e.g., counties, cities, school districts), Federally Recognized Indian tribes and their public agencies, and Public Government Agencies
Funding
Funding is typically available for the following school safety measures in and around K-12 (primary and secondary) schools and school grounds:
